Parts of book were very interesting - parts rather boring....

The author, Anthony Smith, worked (at the time of this publishing) at ESPN and was hired to write the book. Memento Mori: This section covers the ancient symbols and glyphs of Death. But the rough-and-ready miners weren’t prepared to let justice take its course. He has somehow gotten himself engaged, not to the oldest and prettiest sister, but to Vanessa, the plain unpleasant one who has sacrificed herself in her sisters place. Letter to a Man in the Fire moves as much as it educates. These photographs span the era from the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century, chosen to show the diversity of the landscape, the towns and villages, and the different uses made of Dartmoor as a source of local employment and industry, as well as a haven for wildlife and recreation, and above all the beauty and spirit of the area. I would have liked to see Redmond explore that idea more by maybe combining a few of the shorter chapters that touched on the topic together into one larger, deeper chapter.
